C’est le ton qui fait la panique
In this episode, we analyze how we talk about the peace agreement recently signed in Washington between the DRC and Rwanda. This agreement, which is making headlines in local and international media, has sparked an avalanche of analysis, opinions, criticism, but also hope.
Until recently, the discourse between the belligerents was dominated by the drumbeat of war. But today, to make this recently signed peace agreement a reality, shouldn't we change our tone? President Félix Tshisekedi, in his speech marking the 65th anniversary of independence, set the tone. He called on the Congolese people to overcome political divisions, reject hate speech, and prioritize national unity.
However, beyond words, it is time to move to action. And to do so, a question arises: to what extent can the language we use to discuss this agreement influence its implementation?
To discuss this, two guests will be speaking:
- Juvénal Munubo, political actor and former national parliamentarian;
- Nelson Mitovu, political analyst and doctoral student at the University of Kinshasa.
