C’est le ton qui fait la panique

In this magazine, we address an increasingly worrying topic: the use of stigmatizing discourse based on physical appearance or body type. As the conflict in eastern DRC continues, we are seeing the emergence of discriminatory language based on the body type or physical appearance of certain compatriots.

These discourses, which are growing in everyday conversations and increasingly on social media, are not without consequences. They fuel mistrust, divisions, and, in some cases, physical violence.

So, how can we analyze this trend? How can we put an end to it? And above all, how can we raise public awareness about the dangers of this rhetoric?

To discuss this, two guests will be speaking:

- Adolphe Kilomba Sumaili, Doctor of Law, university professor, and lawyer at the South Kivu Bar

- Loketo Evariste Ours, founder and executive director of Accountability Lab DRC, an organization working to promote governance that serves citizens.
