C’est le ton qui fait la panique
In this magazine, we address the issue of the language used in peace talks, which often tends to overlook the victims of conflict.
As peace negotiations are underway to try to end the violence tearing the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo apart, the question arises: how are the needs of victims taken into account in these peace talks?
How can the language of policymakers and negotiators be perceived by those who have suffered the horrors of war?
To discuss this, two guests will be invited:
- Nelson Mitovu, political analyst, lawyer, and doctoral student at the University of Kinshasa
- Emmanuel Nyakasane Manegabe, President of the Board of Directors of the Union for Progress and the Fight Against Anti-Values, a non-profit organization based in North Kivu that advocates for the recognition of victims of war in the eastern part of the country.
