C’est le ton qui fait la panique

In this episode, we address the issue of language abuses in the political sphere and their impact on our democracy.

Political debates, whether in the media, in Parliament, or on social media, are increasingly marked by invective, insults, threats, and sometimes even calls for hatred.

This aggressive language is no longer limited to politicians themselves. Their supporters are inspired by it and actively participate in these heated verbal exchanges, particularly on social media. And increasingly, we see that ordinary citizens, who are not necessarily politicized, are also imitating this way of speaking.

So, how did we get to this point? And above all, how can we bring calm and respect back to these debates, which are essential to our young democracy?

Two guests will discuss this topic:

- Marie-Josée Ifoku, politician, former governor of Tshuapa, two-time presidential candidate

- Philly Ntumba, journalist based in Lubumbashi
