C’est le ton qui fait la panique

In this episode, we dissect the notions of identity and nationality, as well as how they are sometimes exploited for political or ideological purposes. This phenomenon is becoming increasingly common, particularly in the context of the occupation of parts of the North and South Kivu provinces by the Rwandan-backed M23 rebel group, which is advancing identity-based claims. At the same time, political tensions continue to escalate across the country.

How is the question of nationality manipulated through language? How can our perception of names and identity fuel prejudices? And above all, how can we, through our language, avoid reinforcing these stereotypes?

To answer these questions, we welcome two guests:

- Lucien Ramazani, philosopher, political scientist, and doctoral student at the Catholic University of Louvain,

- Jean-Luc Mburanumwe, jurist and lawyer based in Kinshasa.
