C’est le ton qui fait la panique
In this episode, we revisit the peace agreements currently being negotiated to end the war in eastern DRC, and especially how we, as citizens, are commenting on these peace initiatives spearheaded by several states and organizations.
To end the conflict tearing the eastern part of the country apart, mediation attempts are multiplying. But far from the hushed diplomatic circles, these talks fuel our everyday conversations. Everyone has their say. We comment, we criticize, we support, or we reject. And the language, the words we choose to talk about these peace agreements can impact the process.
So how can we talk about these peace agreements without resorting to exaggeration, rumors, demonization, or unsubtle, binary positions? How do our words, as citizens, influence our perception of these ongoing peace initiatives?
To discuss this, two guests will be joining us:
- Frédéric Amani, political analyst and lecturer at the University of Lubumbashi,
- Adrien Maghene, freelance journalist
