C’est le ton qui fait la panique

In this year's episode, we analyze how we react to rumors through our language.

We live in an era where information circulates at breakneck speed, particularly thanks to social media. But not all of this information is always verified. Some are simply rumors, and upon verification, they turn out to be false. Yet, they often trigger strong emotional reactions: insults, threats, invective, and even calls for hatred.

So why do we tend to believe, share, and sometimes react violently to unverified information? How do we go from a simple rumor to such serious statements? And, above all, how can we break this vicious cycle?

Two guests will discuss this topic:

- Didier Mukaleng Makal, PhD in Information and Communication Sciences, lecturer at the University of Lubumbashi,

- Manassé Mabondo, political analyst and researcher at Politoscope, a platform dedicated to analyzing verbal cyberviolence in the DRC.
