C’est le ton qui fait la panique
In this issue of "It's the Tone That Causes Panic," we analyze the dynamics of patriotic language, which has become increasingly common in public discourse since the resurgence of the M23.
Patriotism, by its very nature, is a positive force. It inspires citizens to mobilize for the good of their country and to defend national interests, whether political, cultural, sporting, economic, or security-related. But when taken to extremes or manipulated, patriotic language can lead to abuses.
To discuss this, we have two guests:
- Emmanuel Banywesize, philosopher and professor at the University of Lubumbashi
- Adrien Maghene, freelance journalist.
