Heads of Mission
Johan Blancquaert joined Radio La Benevolencija in July 2008, taking up responsibilities as Business Manager and Head of Finance and Administration in the Amsterdam office and Head of Mission in Rwanda. Blancquaert has worked for the International Agency for Source Country Information (IASCI), the Christian Blind Mission Belgium, the International Planned Parenthood Federation, and the Cabinet of the Belgian Minister of the Interior. He holds a graduate degree in translation of Dutch, English, French and German.
Johan Deflander, Burundi
An international development and communication expert specializing in rural and community media and grassroots organizations, Johan Deflander heads up Radio La Benevolencija's mission in Bujumbura, Burundi. As the former head of Panos West Africa, he has considerable NGO experience in West and Central Africa on the design, implementation and monitoring of development projects that link rural radio and civil society organizations.
